Radiation modification
Highly reactive active species are generated! We will introduce why modification and processing can be done with radiation.
When radiation is irradiated onto polymer materials such as plastics, excitation or ionization occurs in the nearby molecules that the radiation passes through, resulting in the generation of highly reactive active species. Through the reactions of these active species, the cleavage of polymer chains (radiation decomposition) occurs, or reactions that bond polymer chains together in a bridge-like manner (radiation crosslinking) take place. Additionally, if a highly reactive compound is mixed with the polymer along with the active species, it is possible to add new branches to the original polymer chains (radiation graft polymerization). 【Radiation Modification】 ■ Radiation Decomposition: Cleavage of polymer chains ■ Radiation Crosslinking: Reaction that bonds polymer chains together in a bridge-like manner ■ Radiation Graft Polymerization: Adding new branches to the original polymer chains *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
